MANGAONE PUBLIC LIBRARY.
[To thf. Editor], Sir,—W r e arc starting a library in the Mangaoue district, but as it is dif[ficultto make headway where roads are bad settlers are scattered, and money is scarce, without outside help, we appeal through your columns to sympathising friends in the Wairarapa to lend a helping baud, Although in these liaid times we cannot expect much help in money, wo shoald be very grateful for donations of books or periodicals. I think we are not interfering with legitimate charity in asking this, as there are many persons who spend a e;ooiI deal of money on books and papers which once road are -to them—read lor ever. Such, made into parcels aud sent up here, would greatly romove the monotony of bush life at very little coßt to the donor, Knowing the warm' interest you take in tho bush settlements, I trust yon will give us your aiil ia the matter by giving this a place in your columns, and forwardiug any books that may be lott at the office to the undersigned. I scarcely need say wo shall be glad to defray the cost 'of carraige to KketaInioa. . lam tf. DUNK Sec. Mangaoue Public Library. Mangaoue, Jikotaliuoa, May 18, 1887. . . ■
