(From our own Correspondent.) Wet and broken weather has taken the place,of the drought, and lam sure settlers will feel more than satisfied with the quantity of rain during the last ten days. OuiM'oads aro getting in their usual winter state, the Alfredton end of the Eketaluma roid is in anything but good order., ta receive the winter's rain. Some people I know blame the County officials for the present state of this road as well as for many other lines o( mission. I am altogether of anotlief way of thinking the masters and not. the , servants are to blame; If our Local Bodies would work together and assist each other instead of trying to tear each other to pieces it would be to the advantage of ratepayers,- I understand soraeßoad Boards are very anxious to take over from the County Council what might be termed tho profitable roads within this district leaving the unprofitable one? with the Council. It is to be hoped the County Council'will not entertain any such proposals unless the .Road Board is prepared to take over the whole of. the roads, within its' district. • I am imformed that the Alfredton Ciicket Club are going to give a ball on the eveniug of the Queen's Jubilee (20th June), this spirit of loyalty is to be commended in a' country where sneers and silly romarks are often the response to every thing.connected with the Jubilee year,
