Inyercakgill, April 11. At tho Riverton Regatta, Hearn (Wellington) won the Championship Sculling Race easily; Palamountain (Port Chalmers) second; and Beer (Riverton) third. The day was miserably wet, but there was no wind to interfere with the race, which was got off without a mishap or foul. • ..-...-: Auckland, April 12. -Captain M'Donald has to-day, through a' solicitor; served ' Lieut. •Colonel Mahon with notice of action for £IOOO damages for illegal arrest. The ground of action, is that, as tho New Zealand Battalion had- no legal 'existence, Colonel Mahon had no.powor to order his arrest.' •' ■ .•■•■' •
