LAND BOARD.
' The usual fortnightly meeting of the above Board was' held at the Crown Lands ' Office yesterday (Thursday) morning. Present—Messrs K Bunny (in the chair), Reese, G. Beetham, W. McCardle, and W. Fitzherbert. The total area of Crown lands applied for since last meeting was 486 acres 8 ' roods, 26 perches, at at upset price of £48716s lid. The majority of the applicants were for leaseholds in the Mangahao and Mangaono districts. .Certain proposals by the Commissioner of Orown lands for the salo of small runs in the Maungakaretu Block were approved, An application by Mr T. Shadbolt, selector of L.P. section 124, Block VII, Mangahao, to be allowed to transfer the same to Mr A. Birnie, was approved. Mr D. Madden, selector of P.L. sections 11 and 12, Block VII, Mangaone, also applied for leave to transfer the same to Mr E. L. Vince, and this was granted. Mr 11. Stewart wrote, forwarding a declaration that hiß license to occupy section 17, Block IX, Polmnguia, was lost, and applying for a new one.—Granted. Messrs Olliyier, Browne and Pennefathor applied on behalf of Mr Joseph Moore, administrator of the will of the late John. Moore, for permission to transfer P.L. sections 28 and 19, Block XV., Mangahao, to Mrs Joseph
Moore. "It"was decided, that the desired transfer be allowed subject to the required improvements' being effected. A communication from the Commissioner of Crown Lands to the effect that, he had approved of the payment of expenses of Messrs Eeese and McOardle attending the special meeting called by them, but could not pay the foe for attendance as the meeting did not take place. [lt was decided to pay Mr B. Ouininuigs, the original licenseo of section -41, Block VII, Mangaone, the sum of £l3 2s (3d, being value of improYoraoiits effected on the land, less 25 per cent already deducted.' Messrs Speedy, having asked that Mr Drummond, district ranger, be allowed to make, the report on Crown lands required by them, it was resolved to ask Mr Drummond's office to sanction this being done. The Pahiatua Road' Board submitted amended proposals for expending D.P. accrued thirds on the " PahiatuaPuketoi Special Settlement block. On the motion of Mr McOardle, seconded by Mr Beese, it was decided that a, deputation of members of the Board should wait' upon the Hon tho Minister of Lands with reference to . thepayment of thirds to special settlement .associations. The - applications of Mr. W. Stanley for small run, section number 8,. Block VII., Wainuioru, and Mr 11. Tilsley for section 6 Block XII, Wainuioru, were approved. Tho Board.resolved to offer the land applied for by. Messrs McQuarrie and Carnell for sale, the matter to stand over until the ranger.reports thereon. The Commissioner of Crown Lands submitted a memo by the SurveyorGenoral, stating that the Puketoi Crown lands were being prepared fo}' subdivision, The AJfvedtpn Road Board jvrote stating • that: accrued thirds had been expended on the Tawataia-road in terms of the Land Act, and in conformity with proposals approved of by tho Land Board. It was resolved that a copy of this letter should ho forwarded to Messrs White and others interested. Mr D, Gray, having renewed his application for section 27, Kahautara,it was resolved to inform him that tho matter must stand over, pending the settlement of tho Lalto purohaae. The under-Secretary of Crown Lands having requested that pastoral run No. 8 and 4 be withdrawn from sale, as it •is proposed to reserve them for a recreation reserve. The Board approved of such action. Schedules of sections in the Pahiatua Village Settlement were submitted by the Commissioner of Crown Lands for approval. Authority was given to the Board by the Commissioner of Crown Laiids to fix the date, and advertise the lands to be offered for sale; This was all the business, and the Board adjourned.— Press.
