The racing was good, and .there was a regular boil over in the St Leger. Only British Lion and Rivulet started, and it was regarded as- a moral for Rivulet, but the Lion won easily. During the last ten, days therehave been six days racing, and over £22,000 passed through the totalisator. Delegates of the several metropolitan racing clubs have held two meetings at Napier, re the totalisator, but the proceedings have not been disclosed. i The list of winning jockeys appear- , ing in- the Molboiirne Sportsman, made up to March 2, gives the brilliant light weight E.' Girry first position, with a total 0f,.28 wins out of 91 mounts. R, Dorrett (New Zealand) comes second, with 10 out of; 41 mounts, and T. Hales third, with 17 wins out of 58 mounts. Among the cross-country horsemen T. Lyford (New Zealand) still tops the list,' with 11 wins out of 20 mounts.' An Auckland'telegram states that the two-year-bjld . clipper Niagara has been purchased on behalf of the Hon.
