Messrs Blatchford and Martin waited': on the Board in reforenco to the loan of £7lO proposed to be raised for the J Rangitumau road, objecting to being included in the rating area nnder the j following circumstances: jftfr Blatchford said he had no access to the roati for which the loan was; tip .be raised except through Mr Martin's land, end Mt Martin refused to give a legal right of road without compensation for land and fencing. Mr Blatchford said he had offered £SO some time ago for the • road through Mr Martin's property, but it was insufficient, and he now submitted that as the loan included. £IOO compensation to Mr MoLachlan it should be increased so as to compensate Mr Martin. ; The Board agreed to ■ consider the ' objection raised in fixing: the boundaries of the'special rating ares, and in. the meantime, advised, the deputation to try and arrange the road difficulty between themselves. . Mr J. W. .Wobdroffe wnplalned that a gate had been taken' down on his property at Upper Manala, and that some totara had been fallen on the,line of road, which had removed his pegs. Mr Woodroofe was informed that-his tenants had first applied to have the gates removed, and that per-.. mission to cut the totara had been granted by the Board, after being, openly applied for* ,-i / TEHDBRJAKDiFWAIfOi;: - ', , 'ThetehderofJ.
