Offers were received from Mr Simcox, of Otaki, for one acre of land situated in Wrigley and Victoria Btreet for £850; from Mrs Perry, of section 27 and|29, Dixon estate, frontingßandster Street, consisting of about four acres and three quarters, at £BO an acre, or. either one of tho sections at £9O per acre. ■ ••■'
Mr Hare said that some members of the school committee were agreo•able to use the land offered, by Mr Perry as a Bchool site.' The Chairman, (Mrßoddington) had seen it and said it was suitable, also Mr Hogg!" Mr.Muir said the School Committee had not been consulted as a body. He thought the property was rather far away, although tho price was reasonable.
Mr Chamberlain considered that the land would be suitable for a school site, as the Makora children would have a long distance to go to the school if it was placed on the. Wrigley estato. Therewasagoodroad to it from all parts, and it" was not out of tie way from any part of the town.
k . The .Chairman said it was a safe investment for the Trnßt money. > Mr Hare thought that the Trust Were not bound to consider the school committee in the matter. They were compelled by tbo Act to invest tho money, and he considered Mr Perry's offer a good opportunity for doing 80.
