I The Greytown Fire' Brigade held » general meeting of members at their head quarters oh Monday night. Present.— Captain McGuire (in tho chair), and a full attendance of raorabors. It was resolved that the Secretary be instructed to •vyrito to tho Secretary of the Crioket CJlub, informing the Club tliat they mußt obtain written permission from Hie Captain or offiqer in ohargo before talking the engine, and that a sufficient number Of members of Biigade be obtained to \york the engine ant} attend to the gear. ; Lieut Bowors proposed, and Fireman Braggins seconded, that a notice be placed in tho Standard, announcing that anyone tampering with any portion of the property the Brigndo will be prosecuted. ...
~ Proposed by Mr F. Moir, seconded by fireman Gardener, that Liout Phillips be appointed'engine keeper at a salary of £5 fter. annum, to be paid quarterly. Carried. : On the proposition of Fireman Gray, J. Maguire jun., was elected a member 0f the' Brigade. ' ? THer following officers were elected Lieut., A. Bowers; sub lieut, G. Phillips; Branchman, J. Hebley; assistant man, J. Qiiin; Secretary, C. Higgins. I The following members were elected a management committee, viz,-W. Yates, (jj. Amos,. Gardener, Grigg, -and:the officers.
- A cordial vote of thanks was accorded the retiring Secretary, MrF. Jftlt "" The meeting then adjourned until Monday "week, when the Treasurer's balance sheet will be received.

Times, advising that a copy of Mr Balyer's " Local Government Guide" has boon forwarded bound 1 as requested. It was resolved that Mr Burling bo informed that the Surrey Department at the instance of this Board, has decided, with the consent of theColloge ! Trustees,"to continue the road till it . joins the Eketahuna-Tinui Road, and that this will be his natural outlet. The rateable value of tho Eketahuna road being now discontinued, a rnomo- / randum of agreement with that Board! m was submitted, which being approved, the Chairman was authorised to.sign ; and affix the seal of thp Board thereto. / It was resolved to cut a pack track bo as to 'give access to the settlers at the ' lower end of the Tawataia road, and ' to-expend all the available funds froa , 3rds and 4ths thiß half year in erect-, I fog temporary bridges and falling ajg clearing the bush, as far as tho . ; funds will admit.
The 4 only tender received for metalling contract being James McMillan's at L 5 4s 6d per chain, it was reßolved to accept the same, and it was suggested that a few loads of gravel should be laid on the last contract on the same locality, for the pur-
pose of lilling up ruts, ife, and that the gateway between the reserve and Mr Good's property Be metalled, Accounts-as per payment sheet aad-\ amounting to L4llßa 9d were passed. ■ The next meeting of the Board was fixed for the first Tuesday in March. }
