FEATHERSTON ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting was held on Saturday. Messrs Matthews, Monckton, McDougall, Bidwill, and Dowman, being present. Mr Matthews was voted to the chair. The minutes of, the last ordinary meeting were read and confirmed. The Treasurer reported £546 7s to credit of ordinary account, £17112s 5d to credit of interest account. Accounts amounting to £345 were passed for payment; Correspondence' outwards since last meeting was read, The principal inward correspondence was an application from A. Campbell for the ranger to be instructed not to impound stock from Morison's Bush for a time, on acoountof the destruction" of fences
Iby the late fire, this was granted. From the-Secretary of the Greytown 'Hospital for a donation towards the funds, several memberr expressed their .sympathy with the application, but the matter was.doferred until a fuller meeting, , : From the'Hon the Colonial Treasury to thetfonversion of debentures.- It was: reYolved. to apply for the diversion,'it'.'being .shown there would bo: a saving .of over£oOo. Mr Bidwill said that so far.as He could see no provision was made for. the .reduc-
tion of, and extension-of "time for the payment of special rates, The Clerk was instructed to obtain information on the 'matter. Mr Dowman withdrew' his motion, by permission, re the abolition of a toll gato .at Waihenga, and tabled an amended motion for nest, meeting. The appointment of Chairman for .the meeting of ratspayers, in Koi. o and 6 mMsteiri re loans, waa brought forward, the wardens rahing to be relieved on account of having to act as Returning Officer. It was loft to the Chairman to appoint. Applications wore made by Messrs Monokton, Matthews and Bidwill for small pieces of work, which woro granted, and the moeting adjourned.
