FIRE IN DUNEDIN.

Dunedw. February 2. A fire broke out this evening in'the wholesale warehouse ol Messrs Hogg, Howitson and Co.,'and a large amount of damage was done by fire and water, but the actual loss is .not ascertainable. One portion of the building is used as a bonded warehouse. The insurances amount to £20;000; The following are the companies interested:.—London and Lancashire, L2SOQ ; Northern, L 1500; South British LSOOO (L3OOO re-insured);. North-British LI 000; ' Royal L 4000; Colonial ,Mooo;Equit.l2soo,' ;M6st. of ; the -companies, are re-insured to some extent., , \ ■., February 3, The fire; which.; broke'out at 9.30 p.m. seemed to originate, on tho lower floor,'and'spread to sOm'e extent to the •bonded 'floor, above, By 1 \ o'clook tho Gro was got pretty well, under. As good judgment was exercised in keeping the place "nearly "oldsed as 'possible,' the damage is not likely to be very heavy. -' ■ ' '
