The line was thrown to him but failed to reach him j then a life-buoy was thrown, andjhe life-boat was instantly lowered, Deceased sank soon after striking tho water, dnd being a .splendid swimmer, it is thought he must have either been seized with oramp or by a shark, Cleveland was 29 yoars of age and Berved his apprenticeship in the New Zealand, Company.
