MASTERTON ROAD BOARD.
The regular monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday. Present-Messrs W. H. Beetham (chairman), Dagg, R. Welch, Buick and A, Johnston. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed, The following correspondence was read: -Prom Mr James Stuckey, asking for information re conversion of loan and borrowing under new Act; Mr W. Griffin applying for permission to remove gates from road at Upper Manaia; Mr George Moore re conference and adjustment of accounts; Mr Franklin, Clerk to Mauviceville Road Board, requesting statement showing amounts paid by Government on account of deforred payment, and leasehold sections in the Mauricevillo district; Mi- 0. | Carlson suggesting a deviation in the road ' t leading to Rasmusson's property. Mr P. G. Moore County Clerk asking what was the total amount of the genorai rate levied by the Board for the current year exclusive of crown and Native Lands. : Also informing the Board that their re- , quest to remove gravel from Waingawa | river bed had been granted. Town Clerk Mastertou, denying any intentional discourtesy in connection with the acceptance of tenders for metalling Manaia-road. Crown Lands|Department asking proposals for expenditure of accrued deferred payments. The following resolutions relating to correspondence were passed : that the information required by the Mauricevillo Board be supplied; that the apology of the Mastorton Borough' Council be accepted. That the sum of £7OO for Rangitumau Koad bo applied for under the Loans to Local Bodies Act; That Mr Griffins application be granted. NEW WORKS. It was resolved that the dams on Westmere road be protected with timber; that about thirty 30 chains of stumping be done on the road past Mr Colway's at Lower Manaia; that £2OO be applied for on account of the Upper Opaki road; that Mr Bothomly be communicated with re line of road through Matahiwi; and that Messrs Beetham and Dagg arrange : with the Upper Taueru Board for removing the properties of Messrs McKenzie, i MoMullen and James into the Masterton i Board. ; , MAN CONVEKSION. It was resolved to apply [under clause i 29 of the Local Bodies Act for the con- 1 version of the loans under the Roads and < Bridges Construction Act amounting to < £8,397198-less the debentures already < 'paid. j DEPUTATIONS. ' 7 Messrs Rasmussen and Co. waited on <
the Board in reference to the road leading to their properties, and it was resolved that the Board take steps to borrow £l5O for the same. Mr Donovan applied to have the stones and cotton wood cleared from the road leading to his farm. It was decided to expend £2 on the work. Mr B. Meredith waited on the board fe the settlement of accounts with the Whareama Road Board, but in the absence of 6, Moore it, was decided to adjourn the conference, Accounts a'mounting'to £133 0s Pd were passed for payment, The meeting then adjourned. .
