Tradesmen v Upper Plaik,

Tho first match of the season between tho above Clubs came off on Saturday afternoon on tho Park Oval, and resulted in a win for the Tradesmen by 32 runs on the first innings. Great interest was manifested over the event, a large number of spectators being present to watch the 'play. The Tradesmen were the first to handle the willow, and made a bad beginning, the first three wicketa falling for 7 runs. They managed, however, by the creditable butting of Williams, Ewina;tou, and O'Connor (not forgetting the extras) to run up a total of 57, Upper Plain commenced very well, their first wicket dropping for 10 runs, but a procession started, and the score stood at 11 for 7 wickets, the bowling of Ewington and Jackson coming off vory fairly, and when tho last man received his quietus the total was 25. There was no less than seven "ducks" in the innings, among whom was 0. Perry, who was expected to make things lively for the field, but having played one of Jackson's rather too far up, suffered the penalty. In tho second innings the Tradesmen got hold of the bowling, and were not disposed of till they had run up the respectable total of 102, Jackßon, O'Connor, Thomas, McKenzio, and extras getting into double figures.
