WAIRARAPA CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.
The annual meeting of the Society was held at thb Club .Hotel last evening, ■ and was largely attended, . Mr W, iowes (President) occupied'the chair, ;" The minutes of the last goneral meeting were read and confirmed. !. i
The Chairman explained why the meet;' ing-had been adjourned from Saturday, last. He referred to the balanco-sheiit which had been published, and congratUf lated the Society on their position, which was exactly the reverse of that which they started with the previous year. Tho number of members were gradually increasing, and the reports were becoming more important and popular as shown by the attendance of the public at their annual gatherings. He hoped they would bo still more successful during the present year, Ho moved the adoption of the balance-sheet, Mr G. Heron seconded the resolution which was carried.
Messrs T. Parsons, W. McKenzie, E. Mackay, C. E, Bremner, 0. F. Gawith, and E. M. D. Whatman were elected members.
Tho following officers were then elected for the ensuing year President, W. Lowes (re-elected); Vice President, G. Heron (re-elected); Hon. Secretary and Treasurer, \V. Sellar (re-elected). The President called attention to tho fact that the rules required some alterations, He thought they would get some useful hints from tho rules of the Wellington Society, and moved, That Messrs Gray, Horon, Perry, Muir, Browu and the movor be a committee ta revise the rulosand report'to the next meeting.'
The Chairman gave tho following notice of motion for a new rule, That the office of President be filled by. the VicePresident of the previous year, This matter was left to tho committee appointed to revise the rules.
