Auckland, this day. It is authoritatively announood that the Stark Purohase Commissioners are not to take the evidence of Sir Julius Vogel or anyone else in Wellington. The enquiry ißdefinitely closed, and the Commissioners are now preparing their report, whioh is to !»e presented by the 30th November. Mr O'Meagher has been retained for the defence of Caffroy, by the seamen 'of the port. Mossrs Henderson and Spraggon, owners of the Sovereign of tho Seas, had an interview with Caffrey on Saturday at the gaol, This day. The authorities are still prosecuting the enquiries re Cam's death and should the result of these warrant it an information will be laid. It is understood that a ooroner's inquest will be held on the remains with a view to ascertaining by whom and in what manner- Captain Oaiu came by his death.
