WHERE IS WORKARINGA.
The following description is given by a journalist:—Waukaringa. is in the Northern Territory of South Australia, about-1200 miles north of Adelaide, mid. contains tho best looking and richest gold reefs yet found in the colony It is well defined, and geologically speaking isun excellent ({old country, mid extends for many miles no-irly east and west, Sufficient work has been done to prove the reef to be gold-bearing—at least at intervals—for a length of 7 miles, and 40 miles to the eastward in the same lino of country, gold has been found in the reef. Three gold mines have been opened, and tho value of the roof proved in them fur above a mile in length, Here, at a depth of 70ft, tho reef varies from 5Ft to 18ft in width. The Alma mine has, during little more tlnn six months, and- in less than four months actual work with tho battory (ten head of stomps), turned out about LSOOO worth of gold, the stone averaging all through l|r« to l|oz to the ton. A L'reat deal of the atone" might be [licked so as to get at least ora to tho ton from a number of Urns. Tho reef is chiefly a ltiud of loose rotten looking ironstone mixed with quartz On tho Balaklava Company's claim, 700 yards to the east of tho Alma, tho reef covers b'ft wide cirrios solid quartz for about half its thickness, and ironstone the other half.
