EDUCATION BOARD.

Tho abovo Board held their qsua monthly meeting at their offices, Brandon street, yesterday morning,—PresentMessrs J. It. Blair (chairman), H. Jimmy W, 0, Buchanan, M,H 11., aud liev. J, Patcrson.

The dato of l.he scholarship examinations and appointment of examiners were left in the iiands of the secretary. The Mauricavillo School Committee having resigned the Chairman of tho Board was authorised to tix a dato for a fresh election.

An application by the head master of the Tinui school for leave to close that institution on the 22nd of next mouth, in order to give him the necessary leisure to attond for his examination, was granted. The application of Miss Ford, Wadestown school, for a bonus, was not granted, A similar application by Miss Welch, of the Taita school, was agreed to In conseqnonce of the present delicate state of health of the Kaitara school pupil teiichor, it was resolved to grant her application for oxemption from the final instruction.

The Board confirmed the action of the Masterton School Committee in the appointment of Miss Watson during tho absence on leave of Miss Keeling. An application by the same Committee for tho sum of £SOO, towards their now school was also considered, It was resolved to inform the Committee that as soon as they had procured the site, tho Board would be prepared to expand the sum named,

All application by Mr Young, 011 behal of the Pahiauta School, for increased wall furniture—that is maps, charts, ifcc., was considered, and it was agreed to provide tho school with maps of Australia and New Zealand, so as to complete the set. A similar application ro fencing and draining was ordered to stand over till tho next meeting.—Evening Press.
