' Auckland, This day. It is reported from the Waikato that undoubted traces of a saurian monster have been found at the slaughter yards near Frank ton Junction. Yesterday moruing the carcase .of a sheep was found to have been taken from a hook aud de voured, the bones, which were clean picked, being found near the place with tracks of f«>et unlike those of any known animal. The steamer Doric, from London, anchored in the harbor at 6 o'clock this morning after a passage of 46 days from Plymouth, including stoppages. She left London on September i)th, Plymouth 11th, arrived at Teueriffe on 16th, the Cape on 2nd inst., and Hobart on 22nd inst. She had a splendid passage. Nothing of importance occurred on the voyage. At Hobart she landed 137 passengers of all classes. Miss Minnie Palmers, the acress, and part of her company landed at Hobart, and proceeded to Melbourne, where they open in a fortnight. They intend visiting New Zealand. The Doric has 42 first class, 46 second, and 112 steerage passengers for New Zealand ports. Dr Eccles, formerly of the Arawa, is her medical officer. The Doric sails for Port Chalmers on Saturday.
