Wellington, this day. At the Heads.— The barque Herbert Black, 134 days, from New York; and the ship Orari, from London. Auckland, October 1. A lovers' dispute caused much amusement in the Police Court to-day, John Sissons was charged with horse-whipping Edward Spencer on Tuesday evening last, It was shown that the parties were rivals for the affections of a young lady recently from Wellington, who was formerly a barmaid. She had been brought up to Auckland by Spencer with a view to marriage, but Sissons " cut him out," and enforcod his claim with a horsewhip. Accused pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to pay a fine and costs, amounting tu £slßs, and was bound over to keep tho peace.
