At the wool sale to-day 15,500 bales were offered, aud a strong tone again prevailed, Fine greasy cross-brads are now ruling at 2d to 2id higher than at the close of tho July sales. Coarse oross-breds are l|d to 2d higher. Siuce the opening of the present series the withdrawals from sale have amounted to 1200 bales,

New Zealand prime mutton is selling at from 4|d to per lb; Australian beef tallow, 235; mutton tallow i 25s 6d,
At the colonial wool sales to-day 22,000 bales were offered. The market is weaker.

In the House of Commons to-day Mr Stanhope, Secretary of State for the Colonies, in reply to a question, reiterated the hope expressed on the 6th instant, that a peaceful settlement of the New Hebrides question would shortly be arrived at. Rangoon, September 24.
An official statement has been pub lished that the Yemethen is now the only disturbed district in Burmah, and that the country generally has been greatly pacified by the recent death of the Myentzien Ptince, the pretender to the rulership of what was formerly Independent Burmah.
