EKETAHUNA ROAD BOARD.

An ordinary meeting of this Board was held at tho office of the Board on the instant. Present—Messrs Bayliss (Chairman), Anderson, Neilson, McDonald, and Yince, The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. A letter waß road from the clerk of the Pahiatua Road Board asking co-operation to influence the Government to foil bush a chain in width on each side of tho road they make in bush districts. The schedule of deferred thirds and leasehold fourths received from tho Crown Lands Office was read and considered. Other correspondence was read from J. McDonald asKing for permission to fell half a chain width on the Makakahi road line adjoining his property. From Rawson and Mackay, and others,

It was proposed to -postpone the con* sideration of the Paniagua letter , for a month to allow J. McDonild .'to fell the bush on the Makakahi road line.- > : It was resolved that one chain, width is amply sufficient for. the main road-through ■Eketahuna, and the, Board recommends the Minister of Lands to sell chain wide on each side to tho adjoining property ownerß on the western, aide as par plan of petitioners and hp.the eastern side from the Makakahi nvor north to the junction of the Alfiwpon road with the main road on the so&th, reservinK the metal frontage further south.

Accounts amounting to Lll 14s 8d wore passed for payment and-Messrs fiSfeon and McDonald were appointed tWign cheques, After a lensrthy discussion the Board, . decided to submit the following schemo of expenditure of accruing thirds and fourths for tho approval of the Landi Board: MetallingAlfredton road3o chains, stumping and clearing Norting's road 12 chains, Mangaone Valley road ißO.chains, Makakahi road, Bouth, 1 chains, central Mangaono and Makakahi 25 chain's, footbridge over Makakahi, Hawera road repairs to approach to ford and general repair of road, felling and burning bush Central Mangaone East, 100 chaius. The meeting then adjourned.
