Sydney, August 26. A most disgraceful scene occurred just outside tho Assembly Chamber on Tuesday night, jnst before the rising of the House. Some recriminatory remarks had been nia'de, when Mr Lyne, Minister of Works, said that some remarks of Mr W. Clarke's were cowardly, and mentioned the word "coward,"/whereupon Mr Clarke beckoned him outside. Mr Lyne followed, and Mr Clarke asked him then to repeat the word, and he did so. Mr Clarke then struck Mr Lyne gently, and Mr Lyne, who is an athletic man, returned the blow with interest. Mr Shepherd came to the rescue, and Messrs Clarke and Dawson | made for Mr Shepherd in the interests of fair play. The work was short and ! sharp, and some punishment was given land received. Yesterday, on the assembling of the House, all parties apologised, and the matter was allowed to drop. Public opinion is in favor of some action being taken. London, August 31.
