United Press Association,
WAPiEB/M.day. '" In the'foofcball match Wellington won by eight pointsto nil.
Atrial match between representative team (green) and the next eighteen (colors) took place on the Masterton ground on Saturday afternoon in the presence of a large number of spectators, including visitors from Groytown and Carterton. J. Perry,, Humphries, and Kemblewere absent, and Bamber, Elorn, and Holmwood filled their places among the representatives, The game commenced very slow, owiig to the desire of the colors to keep the ball in scrum, and having some good forwards among them, were able to take the ball into green territory. When, tho leather commenced to got free, tho superiority of the green backs asserted itsolf, and the lino of the colors was monaccd. Bamber, by good following up, secured the first tiy between the posts, but K. Udy failed in the kick. From the kick out the " reps" went in for loose play, and through tho judicious feeding of Bambor and W. Perry, 0. Porry was enabled to clear the colors line twico. E.. Udy again failed in liia kick, but C. Pony managed to get the leathor botween tho posts. The game became very fast towards the finish, the colon giving; the greens as much as they sent, and but for their injudicious play near the goal lino, would have undoubtedly placed more than one try to their credit. Two more tries were added to tho greens list by- W, Perry and C, Beard, but the kickists, Udy and 0. Perry, failed to increase the scoro, which stood at the finish, greens 1 goal 4 tries, colors, nil. The principal features of the rep.'s game were the fast following up of the fonvardk and the admirable passing of the backs. In the scrum the forwards played with unity, and directly tho. ball was through the wings wore on it, greatly to tho surprise and detriment of tho opposing backs. In this they havo taken, a lessen from tho Wellington match. The backs, especially Bamber and W, and C. Perry, did some serviceable. passing, the former having won his placo iii the team by his unselfish all round play. In back; play our team has taken a Wellington lesson, for Saturday's play was about the best seen among a Wairarapa team. The colors played a hard game throughout, but lacked unity of action, and in many cases spoiled each other's play, especially when near the line.
