R.M. COURT.
MASTEB.TON—THIS CAT. Before H, A. Stratford, R.M. Three inebriates were brought up tlm morning charged with being drunk, and were fined five shillings each. Henry McDowell was charged with usiug obscene language at the Theatre Royal last night, and >vas sentenced to three day's imprisonment. Schroder v. McDowell.—Claim L2l 17s 6d, balance of account, 11 weekß as salesman L 44,1 weeks board at 255, L 8 15s, total L5215s less contra goods and cash L2017s 6d. Mr Bunny appeared for tho claimant, and Mr Beard for defendant. George William Schroder deposod to his claim. Oross-examined by Mr Beard he said ho arranged with defendant at his own houso on May 12th. The agreement was made in the front room. Mr Howard was present when defendant dame in, but leftwhon lie saw they were arranging terms, Mrs Schroder was present.
Defendant asked if ho would cmne and work for him as before, and witness asked what he would give him. He said £4 per week. Witness replied most decidedly. On certain occasions he took money from the cash box and debited it against himself in the cash book. He had full permission to do that if he required money during his omployor's absence. Everything lie had taken, whether in cash or goods, was fullv accounted for in the cash book.
Henry Owen, sworn, said Mr Schroder had been in his employ, at a salary of £3 10s. He considered him worth that when he engaged him. After hearing the evidence of defendant and other witnesses, His Worship gave judgment for plaintiff for £lO 17s Gd. each party to pay their own costs.
