Dunedin, this day. A fatal accident .occurred at, Kawarawa Gorge last night. A man named Alex. Cameron was working in the tunnel when it collapsed, completely burying him. A boy aged 12 years, named Hansen, was with him, and there is no hope that the latter will be saved. Willing hands were promptly at the, jvork, of "rescue, and althouehCameron's body hasbeon reached more than once, additional slips ' preveiu tejl,it beiug extricated. He is known to be dead.' The boy may be further in the tunnel and yet alive,' although this is very doubtful. Relays ot men are still at work endeavoring to effect tho child's rescue.

Frank Brown, a journeyman bootmaker, was found dead at the Brittania Hotel, Rewaka, this morning. It was a caae of suicide from " Roughen Rats." Deceased had recently arrived frota Takaka on a visit to his wife, ,vho was .living at the hotel namod. He took the. poison last night in a glass of beer, and went to bed. A verdict,of suicide wjiilst under the influence of driuk was returned, with a rider that Mr Tafner, the proprietor of the hotel, showed great want of feeling in not giving proper attention to deceased, knowing he had taken poison. A remarkable death occurred at Motueka on, Monday last. Mrs .William Taylor senr., when passing near a beehive was stung on the faoe just below the eye by a bee. The sting was extraotod, but deceased complained of feeling bad, and twenty minutes after she was stung she died. Sho had suffered from asthma, and the blood beinc poisoned.by the stiug had ejected her heart.
