MASTERTON RIFLE VOLUNTEERS.
The annual general meeting of the above Corps was held at the Club Hotol on Thursday last. Captain Donald occupied the chair, arid about thirty members wore present. The balance-sheet was read and adopted. "In presenting this, my second report of the Masterton Rifle Volunteers, Ido so with a great amount of pleasure, as wo have a good eredit balance in the Bank, £lßl6s 6d, and £37 4s in hand, besidfls some very good assets. We have 54 members on the roll, and had 47 of them on parade at the Inspection held on 24th May.. Laßtyear 43 men qualified for capitation, bringing us in £3B olear to the corps fund. During the year our band has gone on progressing very well, and are quite capable of'holding their own with any of the oity bands, We were also represented at the N.Z. ; Rifle Association by a team, who, though I they did not succeed in carrying off a ' prize shot very fairly. We have also lost two very good volunteers daring the year, Lieut. Cameron and Sorgt. Dixon, whose places it will be very hard to fill, from the large amount of interest they always displayed in volunteering.—l have, etc., A. 6. Thommon." The balance-sneet ■■ showed, Income for the year, £4B 18b 6d; Expenditure, £3O 2s; balance in bank, £lßl6 6d; cash in hand, £27 4s; total £46 0s 6d.- -Asset* made up of uniforms, suburiptions, <fes., £l3O 13 3d; liabilities, uniforms and sundry accounts, £63 Is 7d; ccedit balance, £67116 d. The following appointments were made: —Finance Committee : E. Porritt, H. Bentley, J. W. Leahy, W. -T. Peacock,. and Sergt, Matthews. *Match Oomwittoe: Sergt. Matthews, G. Bentley, 0. F. Wilton, Hoffiens and Kibblewhito, Treasurer: H. Bentley. Secretary: 6. S. W. Dalrymple. A vote was then taken for the lieutenancy. Vol. J. W. Leahy polled the highest, but was unable to obtain the majority, so Captain Donald informed the meeting that he would receive fresh nominations up to next inspection, August 11th. Captain Donald submitted the three following names as Trustees for the Drill Hall:-W. G. Beard, W. H, Beetham and Capt, Donald. These wore uuanimously accepted. A vote of thanks to the Sliairman terminated the meeting.
