- (To THB EDII9R.) Slit-Mr Matthew Burnett in commenting on the the very able address of his Chairman, to show how' kindly some publicans had treated him during his travels in Australia and elsewhere, gave an instance of makings, call at a small township or hamlet, consisting of one public house,,with its usual.outbuildings, <k The publican not only 'pressed him' to stay and deliver one of his lectures, but also offered to place his billiard room at his disposal, to convass the place for nine miles round, and was sh» first to
bring the pen mid ink to induce liis ■ customers to sign tlie pledge. : " God ble'j'a him." Would Mr Burnett be kind agflugh to give tho name of the hamlet, thtflPlfo house, and tho publican, then pßrhajis this littlo story will hold water. I have, &,'/., ■•' Thos. Wkiglet.
