His Honor gave judgment for one week's salary only. In the criminal libel action Thompson v Sawkins, plaintiff did not proceed, and the case lapsed. Aduklaud, this day, Two of the Poitugese belonging te the whaler Petrel, at Kussells, recently deserted but were captured by the pilot and returned to the vessel. With the exception of the accused officers and the witnesses now attending the Court in Auckland, the Petrel's crew are now on board of the vessel, and are expected to return home in her.
George McOaulin has been found guilty of arson. His wife, Ann McOaulin, was acquitted. Sentence was deferred.
