FEATHERSTON ROAD BOARD.
The Foathorston Bond Board held its usual monthly meeting on Saturday last all the members being present. ■' The Treasurer reported an overdraft of £2714s 7d on ordinary account and a credit of £227 5s 8d to imprest account. Accounts amounting to £327 were passed for payment. The following correspondence inwards was dealt with:—An application from Mr Ooloman Phillips for protective works at the Dry Hiver. —'Hiis was loit in the hands of the Warden.
From Mr Burt's manager for permission to sledge timber across the road on certain conditions.- Granted,subjecfc to its being stopped on immediate notice. From Mr J. Barton re road through Awhea Valley.—The clerk was instructed to look up previous correspondence for next meeting. From Chapman and Fitzgerald solicitors for Mr B. Riddiford re road to Stoney Creek, informing the Board that if the road through Cabbage-tree Flat was insisted upon Mr Riddiford would demand full compensation for this and all land through the hilly part of the run.—The Clerk was instructed to lay the whole matter before the next meeting. A copy of a resolution passed by the Wairarapa East County Council re the terms of repayment of loans under the Roads and.Bridges Construction Act was fead and fully concurred m by tho Board. The tender of .1. H, Hudder at 21s per chain for 43 chains at South' Featherston was accepted, and that of Mr C. Marsh at £2 7s tid for No. 3 contract, Moroa road, Mr W. Heaton at £2 for No. 4 contract Moroa Road, and S. Solman at 19s for Ward's line was also accepted. Mr King reported re the Ruamahanga River, that fascining and planting willows would form permanent protection, the cost would be about £llO. It was resolved to leave this over until the summer.
Mr Skeet reported re the Cross' Creek road that a sum of £l2O would clear the road and make it passable for foot and horse traffio. This does not include compensation for land or fencing. It was resolved that alternative tenders be invited for clearing a road -\ chain and a.chain wide.
Upon discussion Mr -Bidwill withdrew his motion re approaches to Kuaraahunga bridge, and gavi notice of the following: That the approaches to the Ruamahunga bridge referred to in the resolution of tho Ist May, be defined as follows: On the of the bridge to include 60 chains, and on the north side to include 30 chains.
The fees to Wardens Wero abolished* on the motion of Mr Bidwill, seconded by Mr Mathews. Mr Mathews mentioned that Mr Harris made a claim, as per Arrangement made some years since, for fencing to be erected along the road through his land. The Clerk was instructed to look up tho minutes for the next meeting.
