TOWN LANDS TRUST.
The regular monthly meeting of the Town Lands Trustees was held last night at'the Council Chambers, Present Messrs E. Feist (Chairman), T. Parsons, J. Muir, W. Perry, and E. Chamberlain.
The minutes of tho-previous meeting were read and confirmed.
The Treasurer reportedabalancotoJune 4, £6517s Bd. Bents collected £2l, total £8617 Bd, payments out £Bl5, Balance in bank £7B 2s Bd, votes duo-Park £l4, Library £l2loa. A telegram was read from Mr R. Hare stating that Mr Mackay, Government ranger would value the 10 acres proposed to be transferred to the Trust. Albo that the Commissioners had decided to accept section 12 Mangahao, in exchange for the 10 acres granted to.the Trust.
Authority was given Mr Hare to get a conveyance of the property as proposed. Mr F. Bright applied to be allowed to transfer his interest in part town acre 106 to the Masterton Rifle Volunteer corps. The Chairman asked whether it was intended to transfer the whole of his interest in that acre.
The clerk said he was informed that the Volunteer corps intended to build a drill shed 80 x6O feet, and would require all the land.
Mr Parsons moved that the request .be acceded to., He thought that a building of that sort was wanted, and they should not thwart them in any way. Mr Perry seconded th.6 motion, which was put and carried. The application of the Volunteer Fire Brigade for the sum of £lO for the purpose of purchasing hose, which was"' referred to the Finance Committee, was reported on favorably. ; It was resolved that the report of the Finance Committee be adopted. The committee to report upon the most suitable property in which to ' invest certain funds of the Trust stated that none of the properties offered were suitable, They recommended that the Clerk should write to the Government to ascertain if a block of land could be procured in the Forty Mile Bush. The report was adopted. - In reference to section part Town Acre, 24, the Clerk was authorized'' to instruct Mr Bunny to take steps to eject the tenant, as he would neither leave nor pay up, Instructions were also given to the same effeot in regard to part Town Aore 44. * The meeting then adjourned.
