MASTERTON RIFLE YOLUJN TEERS.

A well attended meeting of the Masterton Rifle Volunteers was held in the Club Hotel last night. Captain Donald occupied tho chair. Tho minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.

The meeting was called for the purpose of considering what steps should be taken to erect a drillshed for the corps, A preliminary meeting hud been held on Saturday last, and waß adjourned for further information.

Captain Donald said that Sergfc. Dalrymple had obtained information from Woodville that a drillshed was being constructed thero 60ft by 80ft, and the coat was about £350. He said the principal difficulty thoy would have to contend with would be to get a piece of land. The Town Lands Trustees had leased all their available sites, He, however, thought they could get a piece of land next to the Institute for 21 years' lease, at a rental of £3 for the first seven years, £6 for the second, and £9 for the third term with . improving clause, with a frontage to Periy-stroeet. Vol. W, T. Peacock submitted a plan of a building with a frontage of 60ft and a depth of 80ft, stud 13ft. At the end of the building on the inside three rooms are laid off 14ft deep; tlie centre one giving an exit at the back is 31ft wide, and the two side ones >l4ft each, v A Small lean-to or breakwind 10ft by 9ft protects the back door. The front of the building is 30ft in height, and the desipn is bold and in character with its pbject.
