Terrible Volcanic Eruption.
Flight of Settlers. (Ukimd Press Association.) The following telegram, received from Tauranga by the Secretary of the Post Office statesthatjat 2,15 a.m. loud reports and heavy earthquakes began there and continued until 5 a,m, Tauranga js in darkness and thick clouds of sulphurous matter, gypsum, etc,, is in the air. Mount Tarawera Rotomahana is reported to have broken out, and eruptions are going on continuously. The Postmaster at Rotorua telegraphs: —''All people here fled in thoir nightclothes. I have sent my family away, and remain at my postj Cannot My how lo^loudotltu.''
