MASTERTON ROAD BOARD.
* ■ i The regular monthly meeting of the Board was held on Saturday, present Messrs W. fl. Beetham (Chairman), W. B, Buick, R, R. Welch, A. Johnston, and RD.Dagg. The minutes of tho previous meeting were confirmed. Correspondence was received from the Commissioner of property tax re an alteration of Valuation Roll. From the Colonial Secretary, advising the Gazetting of Wardens. From the Clerk to the Pahiatua Road Board threatening proceedings unless the award of £IOO be paid into their credit at the bank of New Zealand Masterton. From the Colonial Treasurer's Office re refund of debentures. . From same advising payment of £179 2s Vd on account of deferred payment lands sold. From the Wairarapa East County Council re the Collection of rates. • From Mr J. Stuckey requesting the Board to ask Mr Connal to lay some metal along the line of voad leading to the Rangitumau before, taking up the rails. ' From Mr E. Connal, Public Works Office in reply to a complaint of trucks being left on the ballast siding on the line of road, Rangitumau, and stating steps had been taken to avoid it in future. 1 RESOLUTIONS. That provided all the rates due from that district be at once paid, the Board will expend the sum of £2O as suggested by Mr McKonzie at Rangitumau. That a rate of in the £be struck on all valuable property within tho district, commencing on April let, 188b, to the 31st March, 1887, Wardens Dagg and Welch to sign the rate-book. That tho Clerk write to the Colonial Treasurer and inform him that in the statement of debentures due he must have included the debenture due by the Alfredton Board. That the Pahiatua Board be informed that the money will be paid as soon as sufficient new rates were in. That tho Overseer get tho following works carried out: A small bridge to be erected over a creek at Pokonui, certain repairs on the Maingakuta road and Rangatamau road, and on the cutting at. Mokonui. j That tho member for Wairarapa North bo written to calling his attention to the terms upon which monies wero borrowed under the Roads and Bridges Act, with a view to obtaining an extension of time for the repayment of the principal, ■ and a reduction in the rate of interest. TENDERS. Eleven tenders were received for clearing ths drain at Manaia Road 160 chains, that of H. Stevens at Is lOd per chain being accepted. Accounts amounting to £lO3 13s 7d were parsed for payment. This concluded the business.
