ALFREDTON ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the abovo Board was held last Tuesday. Presout-Messrs Cross, Good, Freir, Kebbell, Marsh and Smith.

The Returning Qfficer reported the results of the election.

On the motion of Mr Kebbell, seconded by Mr Marsh, Mr C. G. Goode was elected Chairman.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and connrmed,

Correspondence was read, from lank of New Zealand re debenture.

From Ekotahuna Road Board askinj? for Customs returns, and requesting the Board to fix a day for conference for settlement of accounts.—Resolved, That the conference be held next Board meeting day, and that the Eketahana Board be informed that all the information necessary in compliance with tho Road Boards Act will then be supplied. From Mr B, Budden re rates duo on Section 115, Mangaone.—Resolvod, That the Commissioner of Crown Lands be written to for information re alteration of boundary, in so far as it affects this section, and on receipt, Mr Budden's letter be replied to. From Registrar Supreme Court asking the Board to guaranteo expenses in recovering rates claimed.—Resolved, That a guarantee be given. From MrD. McLachlan asking that the Board will entrust him with any engineering the Board may liave.—Resolved, That Mr McLachlan be informed that tho Board has no need of the services of an engineer at present. From Wairarapa East' County Council re collecting all arrears of rates before tho end of June so as to secure the full sub-sidy.-Resolved, That proceedings for the recovery af all rates in arrear bo taken. From Crown Lands Commissioners j with statements of lands disposed of since 19th of June last.

From the Returning officer Eketahuna, asking for a list of dofaulen in the new Koud District,

, Mr G. Phillips waited on the Board re the taking of the Alfredton district road through a portion of his property. Resolved that Mr Phillips be allowed to Have a gate on his boundary, and that 1 he be allowed a sum of £2los for cost of gate; That at a meeting to be held on 29th June a general rate of in the £ bo levied for the yoar ending 31st March 1887; That Mr Kebbell be authorised to have some further clearing of slips done on the Alfredton Distriot Road; That Mr Kebbell have permission to use some timber on the Alfredton Road line for the purpose of repairing a bridge on the road. That the Chairman be authorised to sign the petition to the Council for a separate Riding on behalf of the Board. That the attention of the Crown Lands Commissioner be directed to the fact that np reply"has.'been received to the Board's letter re deferred payment thirds.
