NURTH WAIRARAPA BENOVOLENT INSTITUTION.
The regular monthly meeting of Trustees was held yesterday. Present.-Revs. W. E, Paige (Chairman) D. Fulton. J. N. Buttle, and Mr J. B. Keith. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
The Treasurer reported a balance last meetin? of £6l 16s, receipts, borough grant, £25, subscription, £3 7b 6d, Disbursements. £2B 2s, balance in hand, £62 Is 6d.
Ihe several cases on the books were gone through. A widow with five children was reported as receiving from tho Society 25b per week. A woman with three children deserted by her husband was getting 10a a week, A man who has a large family of small children and is suffering from a cancer rendering him unfit for work was getting 20s a woek. A man suffering from paralysis who has been on tho taoks two years was getting 20s. A pair of crutches for his use were applied for and ordered to be made, A widow in the country was in receipt of 20a a week. The Society was paying £4 15s per week in relief in addition to the casual cases that came before the Trustees. In new cases there were soveral who had received temperory relief from the Secretary. His action in each casu waß endorsed. It was resolved to grant an old widow tea and stores to the extent of five shillings per week. The Chairman reported one case m which a man had been supplied with board and lodging on Sunday night and given 6s to forward him on his way to Wollincton,! and, instead of going to Wellington ho had spent the money is drink and was still loafing about. He was reported to be well connected. The Secretary was instructed to introduce him to Sergeant Price for obtaining money under false pretences, unless he showed his objection by I clearing out. The case of a widow in bad health, whose husband recently died, was discussed. There were two children! The Society had guaranteed the funerai money, and the Secretary was instructed to write and ask for a rebate of the cemetery fees. It was resolved to mako an interim allowance to the extent of 20b a week. The Secretary was instructed to give the orders for relief in regular turns as near as he could to subscribing storekeepers, An account amounting to £5 12s Gd, due to Mr Guuderson for supply of stores to a recipient of relief at Mauricevule, was passed fer payment. The Secretary was-' instructed to take immediate stops to get in allßubsoriptions due, also to send in claim to the Government for subsidy, The . meeting then aajoura«dv
