The speaker of the Council took the. chair at five minuteß to two, and two minutes after that hour His Excellency entered the Chamber and read his speech. ; LEGISLATIVE'cOUNCtL.-\ J On the Council resuming, 'ttfmw waß received from the (iovenio winounc ing that he had granted leave iPßbsencß for twelve months to J. C. Richmond and Robert Pharazyn. : Mr Buckley moved tho appoiutment of Messrs Brett, Bailey, Slirimski, Barnlcote, and the ,mover as a committee to : draw up tho Address in Reply to the speech,-Agreed to, Mr Buckley gave notice that on the following day he would move that Captain Bailey be appointed Chairman of Committees for the session, Mr Buckley also gave notice of his intention to move- on the following day. for the appointment of the usual sessional Committees. , - ■ Mr Scotland gave notice of his intention to move on the following day that the supply,of hot meals within the Parliamentary buildings is unnecessary/ and that therefore the kitchen at Bellamys be abolished. The House.met at 1.55 p.m. A message was received from the Legislative Council requiring.jgjjuwesence of membors to hear the GmrnoYs speech. On the House resuming Mr Bevan gave notice to move at tho next sitting day that a respectful addreßS be presented to the Qovernorjn.reply to the speech made to both houses. Notices of motion were given for tho appointment of the usual sessional committees. Mr Stout moved that the Houso adjourn till Tuesday next at 2.30 p.m.Agreed to. The House rose at 2.40 p.m.
