LAND BOARD.
-■■■■' ♦■ , Tho fortnightly meeting of the Land Board took place at 10 o'clock yesterday morning. There were present-Messrs J. W, A. Marchant (Commissioner of Grown Lands), G. Beetham, M.H.R., W. W. McCardlo, W. A. Fitzherbert, and A., Reese.
The following applications to transfer woro approved :—Sec. 4, block XII., Mangahao, from W. Proctor, to W. H. Bonnett; sees. 4-, 5, and 12, blocks VI. and VII., Mangaone, from M. Nelson to A. Wiley; sec. 4, block VIII,, Mangahao, from W. Markquick to C. Crewe ; sees. 2 and 26, blocks XII. and IX., Oroua and Pohangina, from L, Browne, deceaied, to Mrs M. M, Browne, Mr T. Salter forwarded a tracing showing the site for the bridge applied for by him to sec, 110, block 11.. Kopuaranga. It was decided to recommend the Road Board to build the bridge from deferred payment thirds, diverting some of. the monies from main road sections. Several Eketahuna settlers applied that payment of deferred payment thirds be withheld from the Alfredton Road Board, as a new district is' being constituted. It was agreed that the money be held over for the present.
The Manawatu Road Board submitted for the expenditure of deferred payment thirds that had accrued to its credit, These were approved. ' _ With reference to the disposal of a piece of Crown land north of Groytown, it was decided that the Ranger be asked to report on the matter.
It was reported that since last meoting there had been sold 105 acreß 21 pules, realising £lB2. Messrs Vaughan Bros., and others, applied for sections in tho Pahiatua township fronting their present buildings. Applicants to be informed that theßoard could not assist them, and they could compete for the sections when offered for sale.
Mr R. W. I. Carver's application for leaso of Crown land at the junction of the Tiraumea and Manawatu rivers was again considered, and it was decided to request the Government to make the land a permanent reserve;

authorised to take stops to, have the land ottered at an early dato. _ With reference to SJtr Axup's applicaturn for land on. the Ruahine ranges, it was decided fco offer land as a small run' A report on Mr McMillan's application for a part of .the Pahiatua. township reserve was submitted. ■ On the motion of Mr Reese it was-reaolved that when the land iB dealt with the Board would ctmaider the question of adding the value of the improvements to tlio section if it be dotormined to dispose of it. The Commissioner brought up tho question of purchasing the land for village settlements under section 168 of the Land Act, and it was agreed that the Commissioner make specific proposals as to.exact localities and areas. It was also resolved that areas be acquired or set apart contiguous to roads for tho accommodation of the roadmen. .'.-....
Mr Beetham brought up the question. of reducing the width of HlO main road through Bketahuna and. Pahiatua, but. •the Commissioner stated that tho Board had no power to movo in the matter.
