CORRESPONDENCE.
THE INSTITUTE,
To' The Editor,
Sir,—Mr John King is mistaken in supposing that my estimate of tho repairs required to tho main roof of the Institute was guess-.work, for before attempting to make any estimate I had the roof stripped both inside and out, as Mr King now sayß should havo been done, but did not take the trouble to do himself. Bis assertions regarding the manner in ; which the repairs were executed are on a par with those made in another place. It is the first time I have heard of any fault with them, and a eentleman who was an active member of the Committee whon the. repairs were being made, and for a considerable time afterwards, informs me that it is also the first ho has heard of any such defects a*s referred to by Mr King, that had they existed thoy would not have escaped his notice, and that he considers the repairs were done in a thoroughly satisfactory manner, and the Committee also were satisfied. No other portion of Mr King'B letter requires any notice from me. lam &o.', -620. FiMiK.

Sir.—Many of our Wairarapa friends, when visiting Wellington with the intention of purchasing at Te Aro House here, have been puzzled by the close proximity of another draper's shop, to know which was which. To prevent mistakes wo have had the words "Te Aro House" painted in black letters on white ground on each of uur door-stepß, If they will only look for these, errors and loss may be prevented. . Yours, &c, James Smith, . To Aro House,
