Christohurch April.l 9. At the divorce Court a decree absolute in the case Mcßrackney v Mcßrackney, and a decree nisi in the case Simpson v Simpson were granted.

Auckland, this day, A meeting of tho New Zealand Smelting Company was held yesterday. The Directors report on the trial run of thirty days of the La Monte process stated that the result was unsatisfactory. This was, in a great measure owing to tho inevitable difficulties in a new field. Considerable saving in the cost of -material and wages could be effected, The La Monte process was stated to be far in advance of any other tried in the district, The expenses incurred amounted to £1227. The directors could not recommend that the furnace be taken over, or that Spratt, who had been appointed for that process, should be continued, The report was adopted. .
