MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The Finance Committee met last night. Present-Ors Gapper (in the Chair), Muir, and Mason. The statements of general and gaß accounts sirice last meeting were examined, The following accounts were recommended for paymont :—Keoßter and Harding £ll4s Bd, freight on gas account; Ingram, £4l7s, dog registering aocount; Pay ton and Co., £2 10s, rent; M, Hoar, £3, engine-keeper Fire Brigade account, The Works Committee afterwards met, all the members being present, The Overseer reported, (I) P.Oarrhad completed metalling Short-street, and was engaged in breaking stones. (2) That P. Wallis had fenced section 36, Manaia, and was entitled to £1 19b 6d in payment thereof. (3) That the formation of Oliurch-street was completed and he recommended that the metalling should stand over until the Spring. (4) The preparation of the timber for the Kirtonstreefc culvert-was commenced, (5) He recommended that five- chains of drain be cleared and the ruts raked in in Villastreet, (6) That the footpaths be raked and cleared in Worksop road, and the water tables filled and cleared in Renallstreet.
The wages sheets were examined mid passed for payment. The petition referred to the reopening a road through Donald's eßtate was considered, and they recommended that it be opened at a cost not exceeding £4. The Olerk was intruded to give notico to Mr Stevens, that he ia not to remove timber from; the section leased to him until the lease is signed. The overseer was authorised to employ another man. The meeting then adjourned.
