PAHIATUA ROAD DISTRICT.
The regular monthly meeting of the Board was held on Saturday.. Present—Messrs Davie, Varrell, Hall, Avery, and Orewo. , Tho minutes of the previous meeting were read and conßrmed. Correspondence, outwards, was readTo Property Tax Department re Native and Special Area rates. To auditor re accounts forwarded,
Inwards-From Property Tax Department ro Native and Special Area Rates, also credit note for £25 Ob 4d, being 75 per cent of subsidy under Local Powers and Finance Bill; from Registrar asking for returns as per form; from Manawatu Road Board asking for co-operation in getting a road across the Tararua to' Palmorstoi.; from Messrs Whitcombe Bros asking permission to obtain a small quantity of limestone from Olesen's quarry. The Overseer's report was read. It was proposed by Mr Crewe, and seconded by Mr Avery, That this Board hold a special meeting.next Saturday at 7.30 p.m. for general business, and that a letter be sent to the Manawatu Road Board, pointing out that such was the case, and that this Board would bo glad to meeta deputation from the Board to diacuaß the matter treated about in their letter, viz,, the road across the Tararua Ranges. ■ Proposed by Mr Farrell. and seoonded by Mr Crewe, That the widening of the road near Olsen's suggested by tho Overseer stand over till next Saturday In the meantime Mr Whitcombe ba asked to see the place and report.
Proposed by Mr Avery and seconded by Mr Hall, That the following accounts be paid:—P. McLaughlin, Township Reserve and Toritea roads, £192; H. Futcher, Makakalu road, £44 Os lid; Sexton & ■Co., track Hall's line, £3O 17s JA ; McMillan, £Bl6s ;J. Lankey, £6 9a™d; W. Hall, £5 8s fa'd; Clerk's salary, quarter £10; total, £29712s 3d,
Proposed by Mr Avery, seconded by Mr Hall, that Mr J. Rose's tender for the formation of 22 chains, Mangaramarama rpdd North at £1 9b (id per chain bo accepted.
Proposed by Mr Crewe, seconded by Mr Avery, that Mr Samuel Dew's tender for fencing four chains at 23s per chain be accepted. Proposed by Mr Avery, seconded by Mr Hall, that the request of Messrs Whitcombe Bros, and A. W. Sedcole and Co, to take limestone from Olson's quarry be granted. . Resolved that the request of Messrs 6. and E. Whitcombe to have their names placed on the roll for sections Nos. 14 and 19, Block VIII, Mangahao, in the place of Thomas Avery be acceded to.
