MASTERTON TOWN LANDS TRUST.
The annual meefcinp of voters was held in the Institute last night under the Act of 1871. _ Mr Hare occupied tlie chair, there being only about 30 persons present, The secretary read the annual report and balance sheet, as published in the local papers yesterday. Mr Dalrymple asked the meaning of the £72 item to the Institute The Clerk explained that it was payment off the debt on the Institute, not a grant to the Library Committee. The Chairman moved the adoption of the report and accounts as read. Mr Feist seconded, '' Mr Vile said it would be desirable for the Trustees to invest the money they had out at interest in real estate at an early date, as the present was a good time to make such an investment, The chairman said they were ptobably aware that th« Trustees had invited applications from persons having land for sale, and had not been successful in securing any suitable investment. The offer was still open, The .motion was put and carried unanimously, The Chairman said their next duty was • to elect Auditors. The two retiring ones were Messrs W. Sellar and J. Brown, and he understood Mr Brown was not going to stand again for auditor. The following were nominated for the office :-MessrsW. Sellar, J. lorns, and G. S. W. Dalrymple. Ballot was taken and Messrs W. Sellar and J. lomb were declared duly elected. ' The Chairman said under the .Act the defeated candidate could 'demand a poll
if he put it in writing varied by three voters. • ;■
