Holt, late manager of tho Bank of Now Zealand, was up before the magistrate to-day and committed for trial on one charge, bail being accepted. At ten o'clock to-night Edwards had completed 89 miles and Scott 9.3. Loudon, 12th. Earl Morley, Chief Commissioner of Works, has resigned his office. Sir W. Kay Shuttleworth, UnderSecretary for India, has been appointed Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster in place of Mr Henfiage, resigned, The Daily News this morning states that Mr Edward Stafford Howard, M.P. for Thomlniry, will assume the vacant portfolio of Under-Secretary for India, and Mr W. C, Borlase, M.P, for Hianstell, replaces Mr Jesse Col 1 ngs as Vice-President of the Board of Tiade.
