MASTERTON INSTITUTE COMMITTEE.
The regular monthly meeting of tho Institute Committee was held last night. Pre-sent-Messrs Papworth, (Chairman) Redman, Beard, Westm, and Smith. The miuutesof the previous meeting were read and confirmed and tho Treasurer reported a credit balance of £3113s ut. Correspondence was read from the clerk asking for the annual account, to 31st March, and notifying that the Council would take over the management of the Institute, and therefore there would be no election of a new Committee. Accounts to the amount of £l6 18s Gd were passed for payment. The Treasurer submitted the balance sheet and report for the year ended 31st March, 1886. A sub-committee, consisting of Messrs J. J. Smith and W. G. Beard, were reported to draw up a report and submit to the Council, to be laid before the Committee on Saturday April 10th. With reference to tho Press Library Mr Beard enquired respecting it when in Wellington and found that it was not available at the price proposed to be given for it, £35, and that the most of the books were sold.. He further reported that Lyon and Blair could not undertake binding books under Is lOd per volume. I The meeting adjourned until Saturday, when a list of new books will be considi ered with a view to purchasing them. 1 ■
