TARATAHI-CARTERTON ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of tho above Board was held on Saturday. Present—Messrs B. Boys (Chairman), H. R, Bunny, N. Grace, W, Booth, H. Braithwaite, J. Reynolds, W. Parker, E. W. Dorset, and A. Gallon. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, It was resolved that Mr D&kin be notified that he must pay hiß rates, and if he wants remunerating for the gravel which has been taking from the land which he is leasing, he must apply in the ordinary way. In reference to Mr Perry's claim for deepening the drain by the road to take the water from his property, Messrs Boys and Bunny recommended that the claim bo paid, ■ . In reference to tho complaint of certain settlers on the Taratahi, and their wish to have a separate Road Board, thf) Chairman suggested that the Board meet the settlers and ascertain what their resl grievance was. It was proposed by Mr Bunny, seconded by Mr W. Booth, that a special meeting of the Board be held, apd tlia poitlorp in> vited to attend, to fully dipousa tho mat' ter, Mr Booth, in speaking on the motion, said that lio was of opinion that it would be a yery serious matter for the Board tq split up, Also that it would bo a hoavy drag on that Board to perform thf work which they would be called upon to do, It wai resolved, That a speautl meeting of thiß Board bo held on the Wth of April, at the usual time and place, A letter was read from Mr Cundy, re cleaning out tho drain on Park Road, The Warder (Mr Parker) explained that }t would not benefit tho road in clearing out the drain, the' mieohiof laid in the Creek being blooked in the Education Ressrve, The Chairman instructed that Mr Cundy's letter bo acknowledged and that he be referred to the Warden, A letter was read from the General Manager of Railways, re the aiding at Matarawa.

'Met considerable discussion the amendment was withdrawn, and the original motion was carried. In speaking on the motion Mr H. R. Bunny further moved that any interest charged by the Bank for an overdraft in reference to tho loan bo charced to No. 8 Ward only. Mr Driscoll waited on the Board,' and asked that a few loads of gravel be put on tho line of road leading to his home. It was resolved that the matter be left in the hands of the Warden. Mr Driscoll thanked the Board and withdrew, Mr J. Bassett, of Dalefield road, wrote, ro making the road to his property, and offered to do the work himself at 10a v per chain, providing the Board let him have twelve months to do it in. It was resolved that thfi application be loft in the hands of the Warden. ■ Mr Bunny asked that the contractor on Carterton-Gladstone road have a progress payment of £l5O, The request was acceded to. Mr Bunny moved that fcho sum of £77 duo to Mr Daly be passed for payment, and held by the Warden pending the certificate as to the satisfactory completion of the work. Some accounts were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated.
