FOOTBALL.
Tho football season' opened at Greytown on Saturday wlwn about 30 players put in an appearance and a good practice match was held, some young blood showing up well. The Masterton footballers turned out to practice'on Saturday afternoon, when a scratch match of about twelve aside wan played. The players shewed want of precision and unison in all branches of the game. The forwards wore invariably kicking in scrimmage where dribbling should have been resorted to, and the backs hung on to the leather liko grim death, when a judicious pass or drop kick would have relieved tho game of some very heavy play. If some of the old glayers would attend tho practices and act as coach, more good would be done towards teaching good play in half the time, with less hard work to tho players. A football match will be played at Masterton on Good Friday between tho Red Star Club and the Taita Club, on Easter Saturday the Wellington and Masterton Football Clubs will try conclusions at Masterton,
