ALFREDTON ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Board was held on Tuesday. PresentMessrs Macquarrie (chairman), Kebbell, Yon Saunders and Smith. Correspondence was read as follows From East County County re gravel taken from the Central Mangaone road. Resolved, That the work at present on hand be allowed to be completed from the pit, but the Council be asked not to tako any more. Resolved, That the Board is prepared to contribute £3O towards opening up the main road towards Messrs Burling's and Warren's properties on conditions that the Council will form the 37 chains reported on by the County Engineer. From Property Tax Commissioner advising the forwarding of statement of values in tho District.
From same ro rules on Native lands for 1885-6, and asking if any rates had been received on said lands.
■ From Secretary United District Board Charitable Aid.
From School Commissioners stating they have no funds from which to pay rates on secondary reserves. From Commissioner Crown Lands stating that a statement of deferred payment thirds due to the district will bo forwarded.
From Masterton Road Board requesting information about objections to accounts.
It was resolved that consideration of Local Government Finance be delayed until next meeting, and that the County Council be applied to for copies for each member.
Resolved that the action of the Committee appointed to deal with Mr Goode, re purchase of metal pitch at a cost of £9 for the acre, be confirmed, and that a memo, of agreement be got from Air Goode pending a formal transfer.
Mr Vonßeden reported having incurred on behalf on the Board, an outlay of 21s, in clearing trees off the Hawera Road. MrVon Reden's action was approved of. Resolved,' That Mr Von Reden bo empowered to have culverts placed at the junction of the Forty-Mile Bush road and road leading to the Eketahuna school, and at the junction of the Main and Mangaoni branch roads.
Mr Saunders reported having incurred an expenditure of 6s on the -Tiraumea District road in clearing a slip. Mr Saunders 1 action was approved of. Resolved, That 0. Soram be allowed 10a for work done at the Te Hoe bridge. Mr Smith was authorised to have a culvert placed at the junctiou of the Main and Tawataia roads. Mr Kebbell was authorised to have slips removed and drains cleaned on District Road. That accounts as per payment sheet amounting to £llolos be passed for payment. ( That Messrs Kebbell and Von Reden sign cheques. That the next meeting of the Board be held on the last Tuesday in March. Tenders for 5.10 chains formation, Tawataia road were opened as follows Kennedy & Norton, £l4lßs 3d, accepted ; Charles Fumiell, £22; ft. Tellessen, £23: E. R. Kirkland £23 ss. The following tenders for 10 chains metalling on the Alfredton-Eketahuna road were opened as follows on 2nd February':—Henry Stevens, £59 135., (accepted); Roigard & Westbroqk, £00; Nils Anderson, £65,
