Sir Julius Yogel has received a cable message from the Postmaster General at Sydney stilting that the cable company is willing to reduco the Press rates to 2s 8d provided the contributing colonies to tho Darwin cable are agreed that the benefit shall be extended to non-contributing colonies. The company would reduco its rates to 8s per word and Government messages in proportion, if the contributing colonies would extend tho subsidies for six a quarter years. The company would also agree to the New Zealand Governments terms for renewing New Zealand cable subsidy. Tlje Now Zealand Government were asked to agree, as they now get all they wanted, Sir Julius Vugel replied: " Your telegram received will bo submitted to the Cabinet as soon as possible, meanwhile I may say it is uncertain if our Government will now renew the subsidy. 1 find the cable must have paid splendidly, for the use of it from New Zealand to Sydney Coinpanys were averaged for the whole term £8,600 a year.
