WASTE LANDS BOARD.
(Evening Press,) The ordinary fortnightly meeting of the Wellington Land Board was held at 10 o'clock yesterday morning, and was attended by Messrs Marchant (Commissioner), G. Beetham, M.H.R., W. A. Fitzherbert, H. Bunny, W. W. McCardle, and A. Reese. It was reported that 431 acres 2 roods
23 perches, realising £5lB 14s 6d, had been sold since the last meeting. . , The application of ,A, R,CookSurnm i &, T, ve t0 transfer Block yil, Mangaone, to E.TWX&s' granted, "■£[;'-• Mr Bourke applied for permJlml to pay off the balance on section 6,' Block IX, Wairoa, arid obtain his crown tjra'nt notwitlistanding that conditions as to improvements have not been fulfilled; -Ai, was resolved to inform the applicant'that there was no power to grant the application. The application of Mr J. F. E. Wright to sub-let the island of Mana to Mr M. Villa, he being responsible for the rent, was approved. On the motion of Mr Bunny, it was reBolved that Mrs Wallace be declared thV, owner of seetian 8, Block 1., Kopuarangal as devised under the will of the late Mi's W.Porter. In reply to an enquiry by Mty H, Sullivan, the Secretary was instructed to' inform him that no protection could ba granted for improvements effected on' Election 2, Kaiwhata. ■ • i In reference to an application by Mr McMillan to be ailowed to purchase five acres of the Pahiatua township reserve on .which his cottage stood,.on the banks of the Marigatainoko river, it was decided that a report should bo obtained before any stop was taken. Mr F. Sutton applied to be allowed to ro-selecfc section 283, Arawara Block, formerly held by him, and it was resolved to allow him to resumo possessiow The application of Mr S, BaSSi for authority" to use the forest on Crown lands between Ekotahuna and Hawera for sawmill purposes, or to have the use of any land adjacent to Eketahuna for that purpose, was ordered to stand over, as the land i» undor offer to a Special Settlement Association, j The fee for deferred payment licenses, was fixed at 21s. The Chairman submitted a statement of the amounts available from vote 3 to open up Crown land, and proposals for expenditure of same. It was agreed to apply to the Government, asking°that the unexpended balance of £IBO from the, former vote be spent on the road. .< The Board aftorwards adorned:..
