FEATHERSTON ROAD BOARD.
The regular monthly meeting pf the aljoye Board was held on Saturday, Feb: ruary ss}. Present—Messrs JasVJ)onalcj (Chajrn)an) A, Matthews, Cameron, Tully, MqDougal}, and BidweJl, The mjnutes of the previous meetipg Tvere read and confirmed The Treasurer's statement showed £1234 9s 3d to predit of ordinary, and £352 2s 10d-to credit of interest account, including £SOO subsidy, and £350 on account of loan duo by West County Council. ' The financial position of each subdistrict was shown, Messrs Donald and Cameron were appointed to sign cheques. Accounts amounting to £2Ol 10s were passed against ordinary accounts and £53 7s against impressed accounts,

From the Secretary of the Kaiwaiwai. Sohool Committe, calling attention to the drain running past the school house. ■' It was resolved that the' Overseer be instructed to attend to the matter at once. From Mr W. Q, Beard, asking for a tracing of the proposed road through Femaide property. The Engineer was instructed to prepare the necessary tracing.
From the Public Works Department, forwarding tracjng'of the road' to be ; laid off through props' Or'eejc, After considerable discussiqn', it was'resolved'that''j;he matte be left in the hands of Wardens Donald and Matthews.
From clerk of East County Council, submitting a proposal re Local Govern-
ing powers. Copies of the proposal were circulated auaong members present. From clerk R,M. Court, forwarding award made in the case Harris v Road Board; The amount, £2B 4s, was passed for payment.
From Wm. Wood asking that the overseer be allowed to put in two or three days in clearing the trees from. roadway opposite Morrison's bush, It was resolved that the whole of the trees on road line, about 15 chains, be cleared.
A petition was read from residents in Kaitara and Moroa, praying that the Ranger's duties be suspended in their district.,
Warden Cameron could not support the petition, on account of cuttle tramping on the drains, and he had been told the Ranger was not often in the district. It was resolved on discussion that the application be not aqceeded to, The following tenders were opened : For metalling on Kahautara road—King and Heaton, £1 12s; Burgess Bros, £1 78 6tl. For formation, etc., Kahautara road—King and Heaton 17s chain formation, 13s chain top dressing, and £5 for bridge, etc.; Bnckell, £2 16s per chain, and £6 for bridge, ete. It was resolved that the tender of Burgess Bros, be accepted for metalling, and King and Heaton for formation, etc, It was resolved that the following works be proceeded with:—Dudding's special district extension, drain work from mile bridge through Bunny's section, metalling 40 chains Murphy's line, formation, etc., 20 chains off Murphy's line, Mr McDotugall gave notice for next meeting tha the services of ovorseer be dispensed with. The meeting then adjourned.
